Are frozen vegetables as nutritious as fresh vegetables?Updated 12 days ago

Many people think frozen vegetables are less nutritious – but that’s a myth. In reality, frozen vegetables retain almost the same levels of vitamins and minerals as fresh ones.

Why?

  • They’re usually harvested at peak ripeness and frozen immediately, locking in nutrients.

  • In contrast, fresh vegetables in winter often come from long transport routes and extended storage, which can lead to nutrient loss.

Tips for Using Frozen Vegetables with A by AMC:

  • Choose plain vegetables or mixes without added sauces, butter, or seasoning.

  • Cook them gently in the vegetable window with no added water using your A by AMC pot, this preserves even more nutrients than boiling or microwaving.

  • If desired, add a small amount of high-quality fat (e.g. olive oil) after cooking to support the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.

Caution with Convenience Foods:

  • Many ready-made frozen meals contain:

    • High levels of saturated fat

    • Excess salt

    • Unnecessary additives

Always check the ingredient list – or better yet, prepare your own meals from whole frozen ingredients using your A by AMC cookware
